About the Course
AnNoor Certificate in Urdu Language is a short-term academic program designed to introduce learners to the Urdu language, its script, Urdu text (Reading, Writing & Speaking), pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, basic communication skills, basic Urdu literature prose & poetry This course is ideal for beginners, language enthusiasts, professionals, and students who wish to enhance their linguistic abilities in Urdu for personal, cultural, or professional purposes.
Course Objectives:
- Develop basic proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding Urdu.
- Familiarize students with Urdu script (Nastaliq) and pronunciation.
- Teach essential grammar and sentence structure for effective communication.
- Introduce cultural and historical aspects of the Urdu language.

1. Introduction to Urdu Language:

2. Urdu Alphabets and Sound-Script Relation:
- Introduction to the Urdu alphabet with proper pronunciation.
- Understanding the correlation between sounds and script.
- Practice in identifying, writing and pronouncing individual letters.
3. Urdu Sounds: Short and Long Vowels:
- Phonetic exercises to improve clarity and accuracy.
4. Joining of Letters and Word Formation:
- Techniques for combining individual letters to form meaningful words.
- Spelling rules, word-building exercises, and sentence construction.
- Enhancing vocabulary through practical applications.
5. Urdu Grammar and Language Structure:
- Fundamental grammar rules, including sentence formation, tenses, and syntax.
- Usage of nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, and prepositions.
- Application of grammar in writing and speaking.
6. Urdu Poetry – A Brief Introduction:
- Introduction to poetic forms such as 1. Ghazal or Rekhta 2. Nazm 3. Qit’ah 4. Qasidah 5. Marsiyah 6. Masnawi 7. Rubaii
- Study of notable poets and their literary works.
7. Urdu Prose – A Brief Introduction:
- Overview of Urdu prose genres: fiction, non-fiction, and essays.
- Reading and comprehension of selected prose pieces.
- Introduction to notable prose writers and their literary works.
8. Urdu Text Reading and Writing Practice (Including Letter Writing):
- Developing reading fluency and comprehension skills.
- Practicing clear and accurate writing.
- Letter writing: formal and informal formats, tone, and style.
9. Translation (English to Urdu):
- Introduction to basic translation techniques.
- Translating simple sentences and short passages.
